A Sustainable Future
About Us
Sustainability
How can our major chemical plants play a part in sustainability?

Resin plays a quiet but important role in making our everyday lives more sustainable. By creating strong, long-lasting products, resin reduces waste and the need for constant replacements. It also helps conserve resources by making coatings, adhesives, and materials that are lighter, more durable, and often more energy-efficient.

From protecting buildings so they last longer, to enabling eco-friendly innovations, resin helps us live smarter, reduce our footprint, and build a more sustainable world.

At AICA New Zealand, we’re committed to creating high-performance products that perform better for our customers - and the planet. Sustainability guides the way we source materials, design adhesives, and operate every day.
Our Sustainability and Environmental Promise

Environmental Impact
-
Reducing emissions, waste, and energy use. We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact through ongoing process improvements. Each year, we work to meet - and exceed - sustainability targets set by our parent company, while closely monitoring our performance against our local Resource Consents.
-
Through efficient manufacturing and low-VOC product design, we focus on maintaining or reducing production batch cycle times. Our products consistently meet or exceed AS/NZS and Japanese formaldehyde emission standards.
-
Recycling initiatives - we recycle waste wherever possible, including scrap steel, cardboard, selected plastics, and general domestic waste streams.
Product Sustainability
-
We’re committed to developing eco-friendly adhesives and materials. Our products meet or exceed AS/NZS and Japanese formaldehyde emission standards, and we’re continuously exploring more sustainable, bio-added, and bio-based adhesive solutions.
-
Creating products with low environmental impact, durability, or recyclability is always our highest priority.

Resource Efficiency
-
We actively manage our water and energy use, recycling as much wastewater as possible back into the plant. A proportion of this recycled water is reused in the adhesive resin manufacturing process.

Innovation for Sustainability
-
We support our customers in their search for greener, bio-based alternatives to traditional adhesive resins through ongoing laboratory development and innovation.
